Credit Loans for Foreigners in Korea: Compare Eligibility and Total Cost
The short answer
Compare unsecured loans only after checking that a bank's current product includes your residence and employment situation. The useful comparison is recognised income, repayment term and total cost, not the largest advertised limit or the lowest headline rate.
Information only. Product eligibility, interest, limits and fees require confirmation with the official institution.
Confirm eligibility before comparing prices
An unsecured loan is not backed by a home deposit simply because you rent in Korea. The lender reviews the borrower and the product's target customers. Check residence categories, employment or income criteria and the supported application channel.
A foreign-worker product and a general credit loan can have different definitions. A bank announcement does not necessarily establish current availability. Ask for the current product description and the exact evidence required.
Compare offers using the same assumptions
Use the same principal, term and repayment method. Check the interest basis, whether the rate can change, any conditions for discounts and any early repayment charge. Differences in those assumptions can make two headline rates misleading to compare.
Record the payment due each month and the total amount repaid over the chosen term. A longer term can lower the monthly payment while increasing total interest. The final figures depend on the lender's offer, not an example shown on this site.
Match salary evidence to continuing repayment
An employment contract, payslip, bank deposit and income certificate can support different parts of a review. Ask which records and how many months the bank needs. Explain job changes or irregular income rather than submitting a deposit history without context.
Compare the loan period with your employment and residence dates. Ask what must happen if either changes. Keep enough room in your budget for essential spending and unexpected costs.
Do not use repeated applications as a comparison method
First determine whether a failed route involved authentication, customer eligibility, missing records or underwriting. A different app interface does not necessarily mean a different lender or guarantee requirement.
Use official bank information for the final decision and keep an independent record of terms. Do not provide credentials, identity scans or advance payments to someone claiming to guarantee a special approval route.
Your document checklist
Use this list to organise questions, not as a universal application requirement. The bank decides which documents and issue dates it accepts.
- Identity & residence
- Passport, the residence document appropriate to your status, expiry date and consistent name records.
- Income & employment
- The employment, salary or business evidence requested by the bank, covering its required period.
- Purpose & existing commitments
- The exact product name, requested term and existing repayments. Add lease evidence for a jeonse route.
- Questions to resolve
- Accepted document dates, application channel, additional fees and any missing eligibility requirement.

What should I prepare before contacting the bank?
Start with your residence and identity documents, the exact product name and evidence of income or employment. For a rental deposit, also check the lease and guarantee route. Ask the bank for the current list and accepted issue dates.
Are the rates or eligibility on this page guaranteed?
No. This is an independent information guide, not a lender or loan broker. Current rates, limits, fees, eligible customers and final decisions must be confirmed with the relevant financial institution.
Does this guide collect my financial documents?
No. We do not accept loan applications, identity scans, account details or income documents. Any bank application takes place through the institution's official channel.
