E-9 Worker Loan in Korea
The short answer
For an E-9 worker, salary evidence, the employment contract and the remaining residence period need to form a consistent picture. A foreign-worker product announcement is a starting point for checking availability, not evidence of an individual lending decision.
Information only. Product eligibility, interest, limits and fees require confirmation with the official institution.
Match your employer, contract and salary deposits
The employer shown in your records should match the employment evidence you supply. Explain recent job changes, gaps in deposits or differences between gross salary and the money received. Overtime or irregular payments may not be treated in the same way as a stable base salary.
Ask how many months of evidence are required and whether a new employee can be assessed. Keep the original contract and recent payslips available. Do not change or invent employment details to fit a product description.
Check stay and work dates separately
Record your residence expiry date and employment end date separately. They answer different questions. A bank may consider both when deciding whether repayments can continue for the proposed loan period.
If a renewal or employment change is in progress, ask which official evidence the lender accepts. An expected extension is not the same as an issued document. There is no universal six-month rule that establishes eligibility across all E-9 loan products.
Confirm the actual application channel
Some products use a branch, a bank app or a service intended for foreign residents. An app may fail identity verification even when your documents are valid. Check whether the problem is the channel, the residence category or the lending criteria.
Use the lender's own website or customer service to verify product availability. A press release can describe a launch without establishing today's terms. Ask whether language assistance is available and whether an appointment is needed.
Plan repayments around your real employment situation
Compare the monthly repayment with essential spending and money you regularly send home. Include periods when overtime is lower or work stops. Borrowing capacity is not the same as an affordable amount.
Ask what must be reported if you change employer or leave Korea and how payments will continue. Never hand a residence card, account password or security code to someone promising to arrange a loan.
Your document checklist
Use this list to organise questions, not as a universal application requirement. The bank decides which documents and issue dates it accepts.
- Identity & residence
- Passport, the residence document appropriate to your status, expiry date and consistent name records.
- Income & employment
- The employment, salary or business evidence requested by the bank, covering its required period.
- Purpose & existing commitments
- The exact product name, requested term and existing repayments. Add lease evidence for a jeonse route.
- Questions to resolve
- Accepted document dates, application channel, additional fees and any missing eligibility requirement.

What should I prepare before contacting the bank?
Start with your residence and identity documents, the exact product name and evidence of income or employment. For a rental deposit, also check the lease and guarantee route. Ask the bank for the current list and accepted issue dates.
Are the rates or eligibility on this page guaranteed?
No. This is an independent information guide, not a lender or loan broker. Current rates, limits, fees, eligible customers and final decisions must be confirmed with the relevant financial institution.
Does this guide collect my financial documents?
No. We do not accept loan applications, identity scans, account details or income documents. Any bank application takes place through the institution's official channel.
